With approximately 50 scouts in Troop 132, there is always a need for parental involvement. Whether it is joining in at
random times when your schedule permits, or taking on an ongoing position, there is always an opportunity to become
involved in your son's scouting adventure. Below are a few ways.

Become an Assistant Scout Leader
The Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters make up the “Scoutmaster Adult Leadership Team” (SALT).
The primary duties of an Assistant Scoutmaster is:
    a. To train and guide the boy leaders to run their troop.
    b. To recruit/select Assistant Scoutmasters.
    c. To set an example for the boys in living by the scout law and oath.
    d. To work closely with the troop committee to offer a quality program that delivers the promise of scouting.

Assistant Scoutmasters support the Scoutmaster and are held to same level of high character. Assistant
Scoutmasters are often assigned to provide adult leadership to a patrol and may have additional functional
responsibilities in support of the overall program.

Join the Troop Committee
The Troop Committee Charter Representative is the liaison between the troop and the sponsoring organization. The
Troop Committee consists of parents of registered scouts within the troop. Current Troop Committee

Volunteering & Training With Troop 132

All Adult Volunteers (including Merit Badge Counselors) MUST take BSA Youth Protection Training
You will have to register with BSA at the My Scouting page

If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the
Troop Committee Chair(s)
BSA Youth Protection

All parents of Troop 132 Scouts are encouraged to attend training courses.

If several parents are interested in the same class, we can ask about having a session right in Upton.

Youth Protection Training - The troop requests that any adult going on troop events, overnights especially, complete this
training.  The training is available online at www.mohegancouncilbsa.org under "Youth Protection Training Online".   If you
have a member number please enter it and in ~ 48 hours you will receive an email with the certificate, print out or email the
certificate/card to the
Troop Committee Chairperson for our records.

If you don't have a member number you can still take the training on-line.  You just need to let a committee member know
that you took the training so that they can follow up with council to be sure you are on their list.  If the online option is not
suitable for you, or if you have any questions concerning the online course, please contact a
Troop Committee member.
We are striving to have 100% of the adults trained that have contact with the boys.  It is in everyone's best interest.
