Ready to Advance?
When you think you are ready to call for a Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review, be sure
you're ready to demonstrate your skills, commitment, pride, service, and leadership.

Skills - A boy must demonstrate that he has acquired the required skills or collection of merit
badges for a rank advancement. His scout book must be signed off and MB cards signed.

Commitment - A boy must demonstrate his commitment to scouting by regularly attending troop
meetings and troop activities as an active scout participant.  He must proudly wear his uniform
correctly. He must also meet the specific activity requirements listed for each rank by participating
and keeping appropriate records of his participation in troop activities.

Scout Pride - A boy must demonstrate his respect and pride for scouting by correctly and
consistently wearing the Class A uniform during meetings and especially during a board of review.
He must live up to the scout law and oath.

Service - A boy must meet the service requirements for each rank by demonstrating through
detailed written records of the
service activities and time he has participated in.

Leadership - A boy must meet the time requirement in a leadership position in addition to
demonstrating the effectiveness of his efforts while in that position.

IMPORTANT: At least a week before your scoutmaster conference, be sure to have reviewed all of
your accomplishments with the SPL, ASPL, or one of the Scoutmasters to be sure you are ready.
Getting turned down for advancement when you think you are ready is no fun, so be sure you are
really ready.
