Life to Eagle Process in Troop 132
In order to advance to the rank of Eagle, a candidate must complete all requirements of tenure; Scout spirit;
merit badges; positions of responsibility; and plan, develop, and provide leadership to others in a service
project; and the Scoutmaster conference.

In preparing for the service project, the Scout should use the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project
Workbook (see #1 below)  The candidate must select his service project and have the project concept
approved by his unit leader, his unit committee, and the benefactor of the project, and reviewed and approved
by the council or district advancement committee.

  2. Get approval from the benefactor and Scoutmaster
  3. Present your Eagle Project at a monthly Board of Review meeting.  If approved by the members of the
    Board of Review, the Committee Chairperson will sign the project application.

When ready to apply for the Eagle Rank, again, present your application at a monthly board of Review
meeting.  This is the Troop’s opportunity to make their decision on you having met the requirements for this
rank.   If the Board of Review members approve your application, the Committee Member in charge of
advancement will review your application for accuracy in the merit badge and rank dates and forward your
application to the Committee Chairperson for their signature.  

Now the committee will get your application to Council and monitor its progress through Council and District
reviews.

When the completed application is received at the Council service center, its contents will be verified and the
references contacted.  The candidates should not be involved personally in transmitting any correspondence
between persons listed as references and the council service center.  The Eagle Scout Leadership Service
Project Workbook must be submitted with the application.

After being reviewed and approved by District Council, the Troop Committee will be contacted to set up your
Eagle Board of Review.

Your Eagle Board of Review:
  • The Scout is able to select one adult to participate in their Eagle Board of Review.
  • One member of the Board of Review will be from the Council or District level.
  • Three members of the Board of Review (four if the Scout’s choice is not made or not available) will be
    from the local community leadership.
  • The Scoutmaster or a Committee Member should introduce the candidate to the Board of Review
    members.
  • All five members will ask questions to determine your qualifications for Eagle based on:
  • Your character
  • Your citizenship
  • Your fitness – physical, mental, and moral
  • Should last from 30 to 45 minutes.
  • All five members of the Board of Review must approve your application for Eagle.

After your Eagle Board of Review:
  • A Troop Committee member takes your application and the Board of Review’s signed recommendation to
    Council.  Your application is processed by Council staff and then sent to the National Eagle Scout
    Service in Texas.
  • The Troop Committee’s Advancement person monitors progress on your application.
  • Once approved by national level, you, your parents, and committee members should begin the process
    of planning your Eagle Award Ceremony.

our Eagle Award Ceremony:
  • This is a special occasion for the scout and his family.
  • Committee members are available to assist in the planning and execution of your award ceremony.
  • This ceremony can be as simple or as complex as the scout and his family desire.
  • Consistent activities at an Eagle award Ceremony:
  • Scout takes the Eagle Oath
  • Scout is presented with a certificate and badge
  • Scout’s mother is presented with a pin
  • Scout’s father is presented with a tie tack
