December PLC Meeting – 12/10/03
Attendees: Sean Kenney, IV Ray, Chad Olson, Nathan Hixon, Jon Rapp, Mr. Hixon, Mr. Gruber
- We have moved the winter camping weekend in January back one week to Jan 17-18.
- Also in January we need to prepare for the Klondike Derby, the annual council winter skills competition.
We agreed that we would offer to host one of the Klondike stations again this year. The Senior Patrol will
be required to host this activity.
- Because of the holidays in January we are short the meetings we need to prepare for our Winter
Camping. For this reason we have decide to use the Winter Camp Out as a training time for learning winter
camping skills. We will plan on getting a camp site that has a heated cabin for Friday night and then teach
the boys how to build winter snow shelters during the day on Saturday followed by sleeping outside Saturday
night in the snow shelters. We will also learn winter survival skills and hold skill competitions on Saturday.
- We agreed to try for Blue Hills again this year as the camp was very nice and offers the facilities that we
need for our Winter skills training. If Blue Hills is not available we will look into other similar options.
- We added a Feb. campout for the ice fishing trip for 2/28-29
